In this article, we would like share Monique’s journey to take care of her back problems. Why? Simply because like many of our clients, her history might resonate with you. If you recognize yourself in Monique, we hope that this interview will give you real solutions… so that you, like Monique, can be proactive in managing your back pain!
Q: Hi Monique! Thank you for your presence with us today. First, can you share your story and tell us how did your back pain start?
A: Hello! My back pain started about a year ago. I was very active before and I used to train quite regularly. In the last year, I was busier with work and to be honest, I didn’t have enough motivation to train after a long day at the office. I slowly started to feel my back getting sore, especially because I have a desk job! One morning, I just woke up with a lot of pain and had a lot of trouble moving!
Q: What did you do at that moment?
A: I was really scared because it was the first time that it happened to me! My husband helped me get dressed and we went to the emergency room. Thankfully, the doctor told me it was nothing serious and he gave me anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxants. It helped me ease my pain and I was able to get back to work after a week.
Q: What happened afterwards?
A: I was back to my normal life, but noticed my back had not fully recovered. It was not as bad as that morning when I couldn’t move, but my back was always sore especially after waking up in the morning. I continued to take meds from time to time…it helped, but to be honest I hate taking medication. After several months, I decided to go see a physiotherapist.
Q: Why did you wait so long before seeking help?
A: I thought that my pains would go on its own… just like in my twenties. After all, I’m not that old at 49! I also hesitated to invest so much money and wanted to make sure Iwould find a good therapist. It’s so hard to trust anyone nowadays!
Q: Did physiohelped you?
A: To be honest, it helped me a lot and made me feel good. In addition to mobilizing the bones in my back and massage my tight muscles, myphysioalso gave me several home exercises to get my core stronger!
Q: After the physiotherapy sessions, how did it go?
A: Although the physio gave me exercises to do at home, it was difficult to be 100% compliant. I did them as much as possible, but since my pain was not as bad I wasn’t as motivated! Because I was still feeling soreness and tightness in my back, I wanted to find something that would give me structure and allow me to continue to improve my back.
Q: Is that why you joined Lombafit Studio?
A: Exactly. I knew that it was by consistent and compliant to an exercise program that my back would really improve in the long run. That’s why I decided to get active again and join Lombafit Studio. It was exactly was I was looking for because the classes were focused on treating back pain!
